Fucidin topical antibiotic cream contains 20mg/g of fusidic acid or sodium fusidate used for the treatment of bacterial skin infections such as impetigo (a weeping, crusty and swollen patch of skin), folliculitis (inflammation of one or more hair follicles), infected dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) and spots, infected cuts and grazes. Fusidic Acid is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by the bacteria to carry out vital functions. Thus, it works by killing and stopping the growth of infection causing microorganisms, thereby clearing the infection, relieving the symptoms and blocks the release of chemicals that cause symptoms such as itching, redness and swelling. Fucidin cream is used to treat infected areas of eczema, also it can be used for the treatment of several other conditions, such as dermatitis, psoriasis, Infected hair follicles, Infected wounds and infection around the nails.

• Fucidin Cream is only meant for external use. A thin layer of the medicine should be applied only to the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. The course of the treatment should be completed to ensure better efficacy of the medicine
• Side effects: Redness, and stinging sensation at the application site.
• SAFETY ADVICE: Do not use it for longer than prescribed as prolonged or repeated use can cause the skin to become over-sensitive to the medicine and may also result in the bacteria becoming resistant to the antibiotic. After the first opening, the cream can be used for 1 month. Do not store above 25 degree C.
