Avalon Cracked Heel Cream treats the causes and symptoms of cracked heels comprehensively, relieving pain and restoring dry, callused, cracked heel skin to its natural health. Urea is used as a moisturizer to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations (such as diaper rash, skin burns from radiation therapy). Urea creams and lotions have a keratolytic action, meaning they help exfoliate dry and flaking skin and 20 percent urea creams to treat conditions like: rough patches of skin. Urea helps improve the appearance of patches of dry, rough, scaly skin in two ways: by providing hydration to smooth your skin’s texture, and by helping to reduce the buildup of dead skin cells. Urea in low doses is a humectant while at high doses (above 20%) it causes breakdown of protein in the skin. Urea dissolves the intercellular matrix of the cells of the stratum corneum, promoting desquamation of scaly skin, eventually resulting in softening of hyperkeratotic areas.
